After adjustments during our field stay in February/March, the fifth Grieg financed school is now completely finished. The local community, including the teachers, the pupils parents, local authorities and the Guvernor of Boeny, are greatly satisfied with the result and thankful for our solid investment in present and future generations in what often remains forgotten backwaters as the modern world pushes forward.
The top image selection (dated 05.06.21) shows the finished wells and some of the school areas. We await the date for the official opening from the Government and will be back with a new update.
The fomba was held on 19 February. Fomba is a Malagasy tradition that aims to bless the school and the students, so that the classrooms can be used. The date of the fomba follows the lunar cycle and is set by the village old man; Sojabe in Malagasy.
As soon as the school was inaugurated, it flourished with smiling students in the new classrooms. The activity has been great both in February and March, also among the workers to complete the last parts of the teachers' house, library and a well. The latest photos from the school and the school area this March can be seen in the top photo selection on this page (28.03.2021).
The second from top image selection (23.02.2021) shows the inspection round, further below (22.02.2021) follows images from the fomba in February.
